Start brewing and stewing your creative juices - and remember to bring back any ideas you hatch out on the playa in the middle of the night while staring up at the stars...or while watching glowing jelly fish being chased across the horizon by a giant luminous shark... or while gazing up at the total lunar eclipse.
Simply scoop up all those schemes into that big ol' brain of yours and come out to the Chicago Urban Decomp'07 Community Planning Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11th, and be ready to ROCK IT!!! By attending the meeting, you'll be sure to get your 2-cents in about how YOU want to contribute to Chicago's Decomp on September 29th!!
COME PREPARED:
~> Theme Campers come prepped to share your vision (including theme camp footprint, structure size info, any art you plan to incorporate, a/v ideas, decibel levels... etc.)
~> Impart your plan for your Mutant Vehicle invasion (please have size & specs available)
~> DJs wanting to contribute, bring a mix cd of your hottest trax
~> Whip up an act (or reprise one of your classics) on our live stages which will play host to day-into-evening performances of all kinds: DJs, live music, burlesque, Fire Performers, Dancers, Flaggers,
Hoopers, Comics, Clowns, Mimes (yikes!), bad idea theater, live painting - ANYTHING!!!
~> Specialty Areas:
...like food (bring a favorite dish or two to share), blender concoctions, baked goods...
...all things non-food related such as a "massage parlor" offering neck rubs, scalp massages, foot rubs, reflexology – mini-yoga classes - face painting - craft and sewing stations - ANYTHING!!!!
GET CREATIVE!
This meeting is to discuss ideas and brainstorm, and also to get a handle on how we'll need to map out the location and what supplies will be needed to make all of this happen for ALL OF US!!!
It would be wonderful if you'd arrive at the meeting equipped with a short synopsis of how you envision your participation in the event - including any drawings or plans, or a written description of your act/performance or artwork. You can attach it to the forms we'll have available for you to fill out... or if it's short and sweet, just write it directly on the form. BUT PLEASE be SELF-RELIANT and BRING YOUR OWN PEN or PENCIL!
There's a rumor floating around about a unisex, found-costume, cast-off couture fashion show this year - so hang onto those gaudy, hilarious frocks you've been saving for just such an occasion! A prize committee is in order for this one! Anyone up for that? Then speak up and DO IT!
...so many exciting surprises are in store...
A few out-of-state artists will be gracing us with their large-scale art, so we'll get a chance to enjoy creativity from other regions, while we show them just how we roll here in Chicago!
Community Meeting time & venue on Tuesday, September 11th - TBA.
***Another post will go up with the time and place asap***

NO SPECTATORS!!!! CREATE & PARTICIPATE!!!
As always, we will need volunteers to make this event happen, so watch the lists for info on how to sign up to help. Volunteer positions will be discussed at this meeting as well.
...and now we return you to your regular, pre-Burning Man programming....

Volunteer for Chicago Decomp '07
Sun, September 16, 2007 - 2:20 PMHi Everyone!
As you may have heard by now, the Official Burning Man Chicago
Decompression 2007 will take place at Hubbard and Wolcott, on the near
west side of the city, on Saturday, 9/29, starting at 2:00 in the
afternoon, and going well into the night. This is the same location as our
first, wildly ass-kickin urban decompression last year. WE NEED YOUR HELP
in putting together an event that will be at least as awesomely radical as
last
year's. If you would like to help volunteer to make this event happen,
here's what's needed, and who to contact.
SETUP: Setup for this event will take place starting at 5:00 P.M. on the
evening of Friday, 9/28, and on the morning of Saturday, 9/29, right up
until our 2:00 start time. We will need lots of help generally. CONTACT:
Yours truly, Downtown Dave, at this e-mail address.
CLEANUP: Cleanup for Decomp07 will take place late/early on Sunday morning
if you have the energy, and during the daytime on Sunday, 9/30. WE CANNOT
POSSIBLY HAVE TOO MUCH HELP WITH THIS PART OF THE EVENT! WE WILL LEAVE NO
TRACE. CONTACT: Willy - devotionliner@gmail.com.
DPW: We will need people to help setup and tear down several structures and
larger scale installations including a stage, sheets for privacy and art
work & cetera. CONTACT: Devin - dev@nuclearblender.com
GREETERS: We will need people to act as greeters, and to help collect
donations at the door, and welcome folks into our Decomp throughout the
event. CONTACT: Barkley - barkley@barkley.org.
RANGERS: Rangers are expected to be sober people during the event, who
will help keep an eye out for law enforcement, and help mediate and
problems that arise amongst the participants, in the very unlikely event
that there are any. CONTACT: Shoebocks - drshoebocks@comcast.net.
This e-mail is mostly geared towards people who want to help with critical
infrastructure for this event. If you are interested in any type of
performance, installation, or bringing art for either outside, or inside,
please get back to me and I can direct you to whomever you need to talk to
with regards to your particular area of interest.
Looking forward to seeing. Defaultia doesn't have to suck!
Downtown Dave
